I am queer, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, pro-choice, pro-science, pro-vaccine, and I support a free Palestine. I am open to discourse on these subjects and to having kind, respectful interactions with those I do not agree with. However, if you are uncomfortable with any of these beliefs, I may not be the right artist for you.
Deposit Policy
Appointment times & deposits are not transferable to anyone else.
If you are unable to go through with the tattoo you scheduled, the appointment should be cancelled. You cannot give the spot to a friend/family member.
I require a deposit to confirm and hold appointments.
$100 for most tattoos, $200 for half-sleeves or larger
I accept payments via Venmo or cash. After we agree on a date and time, I will reach out to you with information about how to pay your deposit.
$50 of that deposit is a design fee. The rest of the deposit is applied to the cost of your tattoo and will come off the price of your final session.
Deposits are non-refundable.
Since I schedule in advance, a deposit is a sign that you are serious about getting tattooed. If you no show or cancel, it effects me financially and also takes a spot from someone who has been patiently waiting to be tattooed. The deposit helps mitigate this loss.
CANCELLATION POLICY: If you reschedule or cancel less that 36 hours from the time of your appointment, your deposit will be forfeit and you will need to send another deposit to reschedule your appointment.
These policies are intended to protect me and my regular clients, not to hurt someone in need. Please reach out if you have questions about this policy as it relates to your circumstances (illness, family emergencies, etc).
Tattoo Pricing
Rate:
My rate is $200/hr.
Smaller pieces are priced on an individual basis. My minimum is $100 for very small pieces and $200 for small/medium pieces.
For multi-session pieces, I typically keep sessions to about 3 hours, meaning that a full length session typically costs $600.
Price Estimates:
If you would like a price estimate, please ask, but also note that estimates are just rough guesses as I cannot predict exactly how long a tattoo will take.
If you have a strict budget, let me know. I will do my best to make design changes to work within your budget and will let you know if that is not possible.
Keep in mind that fine line detailed styles take a much longer time to execute properly, and a large scale fine line back and gray tattoo may take many sessions to complete.
The Design Process:
All clients have the option of a consultation before your appointment. I will only suggest one if it feels necessary on my end, but you are welcome to ask for one if it would make you feel more comfortable.
I draw each tattoo in the order of the appointments. I often do not draw until a day or two before your appointment. For this reason I do not ever promise to show a design before the day of your appointment, as it is often just not possible (unless you opt for the optional design package detailed below). However….
I do promise we will take as much time as is necessary to make the design right for you before tattooing. When you see the design that day, I want you to feel comfortable asking for changes. I would rather spend an extra hour (or reschedule you) than give you a tattoo you are not satisfied with.
OPTIONAL DESIGN PACKAGE:
This is entirely optional and only meant for those who want an extra level of involvement in the design process. Most of my clients do well with the process described above, but occasionally some have asked for sketches ahead of time. This is a way I can finally accommodate those requests.
The cost of this package is $200 (the cost of one hour of tattooing labor). For that you recieve:
An initial consultation (already included without the design package).
2-3 rough concept sketches emailed/shown to you, from which you can choose the direction you like best.
An extra consultation to review the completed design and have another opportunity to make changes.
The Design Process
Before Your Tattoo
Pre-Tattoo Skin Care:
Do Not get a sunburn. If you have a sunburn on the area to be tattooed, we will have to reschedule your appointment.
Do Not use self tanner for a week or two before your appointment.
Do Not apply lotion within 24 hours before getting a tattoo.
Do hydrate. Staying hydrated in the weeks before a tattoo (and always!) improves skin health. Exfoliating once or twice the week before can also help.
Preparing for a Tattoo:
The better you feel, the better you will handle the pain.
If possible: rest up, stay hydrated, eat good food, and stay calm. The kinder you are to yourself, the better the process will go. You are going to be just fine!
The Day Of Your Appointment
Bring your best self (hydrated, rested, and fed), a valid government issued photo ID, and a form of payment.
Tsunami Tattoo’s Covid Safety Policy:
We are now mask optional for clients, however I usually wear one while I am tattooing. If I am not wearing one and you would like me to, please ask as I am more than happy to mask up!
Bringing a guest is discouraged, but allowed in some circumstances.
Parking/Locating the Shop:
The shop looks like a big light gray house. There is a large white sign out front that says 585 and 583 on it. To reduce foot traffic in the shop there is not an obvious marking that it is a tattoo shop. When you approach the front, ours is the door on the right with a decal of the Tsunami Tattoo cherry blossom logo.
There is a small 3 space parking area along the Clifton Street side of the shop as well as a big wrap around driveway. You may park anywhere in that area, including the driveway, so long as you are not blocking anyone else in.
There is also street parking around the shop. Most of it is technically 1 hour parking. It is very rarely enforced, but park there at your own risk.
Valid ID Forms:
Passport
Driver’s License
State Issued ID card (for non-drivers)
Forms of Payment Accepted:
Cash :) <3
Venmo

**LATE POLICY**:
If you are over 20 minutes late you will be charged my hourly rate for the amount of time you were late. Some exceptions might be made for unforeseeable circumstances, but please respect my time and the time of my other clients who may be effected by your lateness.
Aftercare
Aftercare Instructions for SANIDERM Bandages
Leave bandage on for approximately 48 hours:
Saniderm is a hypoallergenic, flexible, breathable, waterproof bandage that is designed to stay on safely for a long period of time. Although your tattoo may heal just find taking it off sooner, to get the most out of your bandage leave it on for several days.
Take it off as soon as possible if you are having symptoms of an allergic reaction, if it is leaking, or if it is beginning to fall off. As soon as you take the bandage off, wash the tattoo thoroughly.
What to expect when wearing Saniderm:
While the Saniderm is on you can may exercise lightly, take a quick shower, and continue with most of your normal activities as if you do not have a healing tattoo. However, you should still avoid sun exposure and do not try to swim or take a bath with it on.
It is normal to see fluid inside the bandage: Your body secretes blood plasma when healing a wound. In the open air, blood plasma hardens into a scab, but with the Saniderm on, it will remain a liquid. The plasma will be tinted a dark color by the ink of your tattoo. It is normal (and healthy) to see a pocket of this fluid under the bandage. So long as the fluid does not leak outside of the bandage, ignore it. If your bandage leaks, remove it and wash the area.
Removing Saniderm:
To remove Saniderm, simply pick a starting place and peel. If you find this process uncomfortable, try removing it in the shower under warm running water. You can also leave the bandage on for an additional day and try again later.
TLDR: Leave on for about 48 hours, peel off and wash immediately, resume normal tattoo care from that point onward. A pocket of dark fluid under the bandage is normal.
After Your Bandage Is Removed (Saniderm and Normal Bandages)
Wash as soon as the bandage is removed;
This is the most important step! As soon as your tattoo hits the open air, it is important to thoroughly wash off any blood plasma from the surface of the tattoo. Using an unscented antibacterial hand soap (like Dial) or a castile soap (like Dr. Bronner’s) apply firm pressure in circular motions with the pads of your fingers until the tattoo is clean.
DO NOT use anything abrasive (loofas, fingernails, exfoliating scrubs, washcloths)
Optionally: After the tattoo is clean, allow cold water to run over it for 30-60 seconds.
Pat gently to dry (Do not rub with a towel).
DO NOT expose to the sun:
If you have to be in the sun while the tattoo is still healing, wear loose clothing that covers the area and/or apply sunblock. Healing tattoos will burn faster than normal skin.
DO NOT pick or scratch at any scabs or flakes:
Scabbing and flakes are a normal part of the healing process. Removing them manually will result in scars and “holidays” (areas without pigment) in your tattoo. Leave your tattoo alone!! If it is unbearably itchy apply a thin layer of lotion.
DO NOT submerge in water for 2 weeks:
Baths and swimming can introduce bacteria into your healing tattoo. Showers are okay.
Keep clean:
Keep your tattoo away from sources of bacteria. If you think you may have contaminated the area, gently wash immediately with soap and warm water. You may gently wash your tattoo whenever you shower.
Be mindful of contact with pet hair/dander. It is difficult to avoid if you are a pet owner, but it can definitely hinder the healing process.
Lotion your tattoo:
Lotion your tattoo 2-3 times daily with a very thin layer of an unscented water-based lotion (Aveeno, Jergens, Curel, Lubriderm, etc.). It is okay to skip this step, but lotion will help soothe and soften the skin as it heals and will reduce itchiness.
Note: some clients prefer and have success with petroleum-jelly based products (like Aquafor). These products are very thick and can inhibit oxygen from reaching your healing tattoo, so use them sparingly. Warm the product between your fingers to thin it before applying.
Less is more, do not over lotion your tattoo
Leave your tattoo exposed to air:
Avoid tight binding clothing, fuzzy sweaters, and textured fabrics that can irritate your healing tattoo. Loose, soft fabric will keep your tattoo safe and happy.
If your tattoo becomes infected, contact your doctor and your tattooer immediately.
Touch Up Policy
Hopefully you will never need a touch up, but things happen. I am almost always willing to give one free touch up within 6 months of the date you received your tattoo. To inquire about a touch up, email me at JenniferRoseTattoos@gmail.com. Please include a picture of the area that needs work.
